Campsites on the Baltic – a beach holiday in Germany
Campsites on the Baltic coast, in the German state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern, enjoy beautiful, relatively unexplored surroundings. The varied coastal landscape boasts white sandy beaches, steep chalky rocks, shallow lagoons and headlands.
On top of the countless water sports activities the German coast has to offer, the region is also culturally rich and perfect for relaxation, with spas, museums, exhibitions and dozens of historical sights.
A camping holiday on the Baltic coast, stretching from Flensburg to the Bay of Pomerania, is perfect for families with children. The shallow lagoons are great for swimming, and the region's footpaths, castles, mansions and theme parks offer something for everyone. Climbing, wellness treatments at the numerous spas and golf are also available, or simply enjoy the beneficial, restorative effects of the fresh sea air.
The region is home to many great fish restaurants, outstanding cuisine, bars, charming promenades and piers for a truly pleasant atmosphere. A holiday to the Baltic coast would not be complete without a trip to the Hanseatic cities of Lübeck, with its many monuments, and Rostock, the most important port in the former East Germany. The resorts of Warnemünde, Kühlungsborn and Boltenhagen are also well worth a visit.
The Baltic coast ('Ostseeküste' in German) is a relatively unknown holiday destination outside of Germany, but is nevertheless certain to surprise!
